The Task Force meeting on “Rural Development and its Energy, Environment and Climate Change Adaptation Policy” was held in Beijing on June 22. Task Force Co-chairs Professor Lin Erda and Dr. Daniel Dudek chaired the meeting. CCICED Chief Advisors Shen Guofang and Arthur Hanson also joined the meeting. The meeting discussed future energy demand in rural areas and subsequent environment and climate issue and shared the findings of the experts in relevant fields. At the same time, the meeting discussed research contents and objectives of the Task Force. This Task Force will submit its final report at CCICED 2009 AGM.

This CCICED Task Force obtained financial support from “China Climate Change Partnership” program funded by UN/Spanish Fund Through UNDP Beijing Office. Representatives from Chinese ministries and institutes such as MEP, MOFCOM, SFA, DRC, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Peking University, as well as experts from UNDP, Norway joined the discussion.
