The Secretariat held a CCICED Training Course on Environment and Development Policy in Beijing on September 22-24, 2006. More than 40 participants including officials from 15 ministries and commissions under the State Council and experts attended the training course. Mr. Xu Qinghua, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of SEPA and Deputy Secretary General of CCICED chaired the meeting. This activity aimed at enhancing the communications between CCICED and each relevant department of the Chinese Government, listening to the policy requirements of relevant departments and discussing relevant policy issues.

At the invitation of CCICED, Mr. Peng Jinxin, former Deputy Secretary General of CCICED, Mr. Jiang Kejuan, the research fellow of NDRC Energy Institute, and Mr. Zhang Jianyu, a visiting research fellow of Tsinghua University gave presentations on such topics as the development of the policies on China’s environment and development, sustainable energy development in China and the application of economic instruments in environmental management. Participants had in-depth and warm discussions on those topics.
