Graduated from Shenyang Agricultural University in 1983, Mr. Ren then obtained his Master’s Degree in 1986 and Doctor’s Degree in 1995 from China Agricultural University and Postdoctoral Degree from University of California in 2001.

Mr. Ren was awarded the title of “Outstanding Talent” at the post of sustainable agriculture and rural development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He started working in the Institute of Natural Resources and Regional Planning of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences from 1995 till now, and mainly engaged in the research of farming system; resource, environment and sustainable development, the integration of agriculture and stock raising, and etc. Presently he is the Executive Director of the Research Association of Chinese Farming System, member of the Executive Council and Vice Chairman of the California U.S.-China Communication Council.
